SERVICE NOTICE (11/14/2002)
Beginning today, Nightweft is pausing new enrollments and reel delivery while we upgrade our reconstruction systems at the Nightweft Dream Center. Your Spindle will continue to record and sync each night as usual, and your dreams will be stored safely until service resumes. We know how much your reels mean to you, and we can't wait to welcome you back. Sweet dreams! - The Nightweft Team |
Questions about your Spindle or your Dream Reels? You'll find answers to the most common ones below. You can also check the Dream Center system status page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Dream Reel?
A Dream Reel is a short movie of your dream, rebuilt by our reconstruction engine from the signals your Spindle recorded overnight. Most reels are two to five minutes long.
How does my Spindle send my dreams to Nightweft?
At 5:00 AM your Spindle uses its built-in modem to dial the Dream Center on a toll-free number. It only takes a few minutes, and it won't tie up your phone line when you're awake.
My reel shows things I don't remember dreaming. Is that normal?
Yes! Your Spindle can't catch every moment of every dream, so our reconstruction engine fills in the gaps using patterns it has learned from millions of dreams. We call these moments bridge frames. They help your reel play smoothly from one scene to the next. Most members never notice them.
What is a Signal ID?
Every reel has a Signal ID: a short code our engineers use to trace a reel back to the night it was recorded. Signal IDs look like a jumble of letters and numbers (that's how our computers like them!). If a reel ever looks wrong, send us its Signal ID and we'll take a look.
Who can see my reels?
Only you, unless you choose to share a reel on the Dream Feed. To keep improving reconstruction for every Dreamer, Nightweft engineers may review dream data from time to time. See the Participant Consent and our Privacy Policy for details.
If I cancel, what happens to my reels?
Your reels and dream data are stored at the Nightweft Dream Center indefinitely, so they'll be right where you left them if you ever come back.
Can I download my reels?
Spindle Desktop 1.2 for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP is coming soon. Until then, reels can be watched in the Members' Area with RealPlayer 8.
